political affiliations are a tricky sport to discuss... so i do not take a specific opinion but only comment on our political system in canada... it is unfortunate but not surprising that in such a large country the political spectrums would vary so drastically and divide the people... but this is our system. and maybe our electoral system is what should truly be questioned. but democracy as all canadians know it is still functioning 100% whether people love it or hate it.
Canada has been in a difficult position for the past 10 years. it is not a blame game but the aging of a somewhat "teenage" nation. everyone deserves their culture ... but what we have done throughout history was make it impossible to have a "canadian person"... there is no preservation to hold on to or remember... only communities and those are numerous. it is what makes our country great... but it is what also makes our country so different. that difference, divided by so much space, is bound to create difficulties within politics and individual and national identity.
quebec is a crucial part of our country ( and a province that has a pretty good bearing on arts, culture and the environment (something i think the rest of canada could really take note of)). separatists? maybe... i do find it frustrating that they are given way more seats , more power and more say than us in the west. but it is not with quebec where we find the problem. it is our system of elections, seats and representation.
thus, mutiny so to say is actually the majority of collected votes and in those, the elected representatives expressing what they were expressing when they were voted into power by us, the people. we cant be angry at the people of our country for following the system which we set up. we must remember that the conservatives did not win a majority government and then in that , tried to push forward a sneaky and dirty bill to give them the advantage of power without vote ( to be a little more clear, they set limits in their advantage for the types of party funding which is acceptable... they are writing their own rules for all the parties... sounds a little totalitarian to me... heh heh i am kidding (only a little though). ). now we have coalition... it sounds aggressive, and i think that is what people are distracted by. but really it just means the voters representatives must now work together to govern a country for the people. doesn't sound too bad to me. they haven't written history , and we cant assume a future... all we can do is trust in our votes and those of our fellow country men and women.
